Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry to learn about Hugh's death. He and Linda were central to my parents' happiness in their early years at Earlham College and were among my first grown-up friends. The memories are so good: Clam Whiffle; Big May Day; meals together; teatime; sharp knives in the kitchen. When Hugh answered the phone, it was always with, "Lacey residence. Number One Son speaking." Yes, he was! Linda, do you remember taking care of us when James was born? Patrick rebelled utterly and would eat...

Dear Sarah and Amos, I met your Dad at family gatherings... I just remember a sweet and kind gentle man! I´m sorry for your loss ... please extend my sympathies to your mom and other family members! Reggie Bowden

I had the honour and good fortune to know Hugh and to be a close family friend for many years. This and my decades long friendship with his Daughter, Amy, has been a great and sustaining gift throughout my life. I am and will be forever grateful for Hugh´s genuine kindness, his caring nature and generous spirit. He will be missed and remembered by many whose lives he touched. Hugh was a big thinker whose perspective I always valued. He taught me more than I can ever explain. Hugh was a fierce...

Hugh and I shared a love of music. I always really enjoyed talking music and jazz with him. I'll miss our weekly lunch get togethers with our friends

My serious condolences from France. I had the pleasure to know Hugh and his mother (one of my oldest acupuncture clients at the time!). Wonderful people.

Hugh taught me how to incorporate critical thinking and compassion into my work and daily living. I feel blessed to have known him. My deepest condolences to his family.

Like many of who worked with Hugh at the Juvenile Court in the 1970´s, he will be remembered with fondness and respect.

Hugh´s critical thinking and analyses often provided me with food for thought throughout the week. His musicianship at the Church of the Incarnation blessed us all each Sunday. His empty chair in the choir area is a reminder of what we have collectively lost. Shine on Hugh! We are grateful for the lessons you taught us.

I worked with Hugh at the Juvenile Court and have many positive memories of Hugh and his work. He also had a great sense of humor and was a true gentleman.
