It was with such great sorrow that I was made aware of Hugh's passing. I first met Hugh in 1985 and was at once struck by his great wisdom. His family was always important to him and my thoughts and prayers are with them at this time. I will forever cherish the times that Hugh had an infleunce on my life.

I consider myself very lucky to have worked with "the Chief" or "Hugh" as he insisted I call him, but I never could (just a matter of respect). He gave me the opportunity to prove myself, once again, when I wanted to return to work from a long absence due to illness; he offered me nothing but unwavering support and encouragement and the flexibility that I needed to succeed and contribute once again.
