Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, at St. John Church of God in Christ, Quincy, FL, with burial at Steward Temple Church Cemetery, Quincy, FL.Visitation will be Friday, April 6, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Steward Temple A.M.E. Church, 85 Woodward Road, Quincy, FL. Hughie leaves to cherish and mourn his loving memory: fiance, Geraldine Evans; one son, Freddie Simmons Sr.; three daughters, Wendy Tyndall, Ava Young, and Kisha Hightower; two brothers, James Simmons and John Simmons; three sisters, Lillie Mae Simmons, Betty Brown, and Pauline Simmons, and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. When I looked up and saw you were home, I wanted to run your way one last time for a Hugo hug, smile and one last moment of connection. For me that is a sign of a true friend who will be truly missed. God blessed us with a wonderful friendship and I'll always cherish the memories from Easton to New York to California.
