Not sure what to say?

What a wonderful life story she had! Thanks to the family for sharing it. I had the privilege of talking to Hulda on the phone in spring 2018 when she returned her phone number with the "family update" form that I send out every year to descendants of the Parker-Umphrey-Cowan clan. We hold yearly reunions (not in 2020, of course), and she attended one in 1985 at the Jack Parker farm in North Albany (we have a photo of her with two other Umphrey descendants). I got to know Hulda because of my friendship with her son Alan. I became really impressed by what a great person and mother she was. I remember how she spoiled Alan’s guide dogs when they came to visit. I prayed for her regularly. I thank God that Hulda didn’t have to suffer at the end of her life after all she had been through. It was a privilege to know her. She will be missed by many.

I got to know Hulda in the early 1980s, when I helped her late son, Alan, write a book While visiting her home, she always treated me like another son. She was a great lady. RIP.

I did not know Hulda in life. I only Just read About her passing in the Oregonian Obituary column.
I was struck by her story and watched a bit of her Interview by Linfield College.
I’m sorry for your loss. She clearly was a remarkable woman and had quite a life. Her story inspired me and I just ordered her book! (By writing this I’m supposed to add below how I knew her - I put “neighbor” as that would be the closest affiliation in the truest sense of humanity.) Take care.
