Not sure what to say?

I retired as Treasurer for the City of Poquoson January 2002. When I first started my job in 1980, I was very ignorant as far as politics go. I found myself in a position during this early time that I needed political help over a Code of Virginia interpetation. I went to Hunter Andrews, not knowing what else to do, stated my case and he sat there and laughed at me! I became very indignant and asked him what was so funny? Still chuckling, he said "My dear, you take your job much to seriously!"...

Mr.Andrews was my landlord at a house he owned in downtown Hampton. He was a very honorable, decent man and I respected him so much. He will be missed.

The prayers of Queen Street Baptist Church are with Andrews Family. As one of the Commonwealth's great sons, Sen. Andrews will long be remembered for his compassion for his fellowman.

Senator Andrews was, in the Twentieth Century, the great champion of Hampton, and of all Virginians. The critical strides he made in education, æsthetics, and social and legislative equity, will endure to the great benefit of this state for many future generations.

He had a most telling glance, a sharp tongue, a quick wit, a scholarly intellect, and an all-embracing heart. He was a rôle model well worth emulating. Hunter Booker was a great friend whom will remain in my memory...

Hunter Andrews served our family
as trusted lawyer and friend. We
thank him for his service as a
professional and citizen of Hampton
and Virginia. His life spoke to
an American tradition of service to
community, state and country.
An example, to all, who care to follow his
example.
