Hunter Ballew

Hunter called me one day at home in the 60's, which was a surprise to me, and offered me a job supervising math students in their work at UNC. It was a great job and he was a good teacher. As a result, he helped me to receive my Ph.D in Math Education at UNC in 1976. I barely knew him and was quite pleased that he remembered me from one of his classes. I never did have an adequate opportunity to thank him and was sorry to hear that he had passed away. Dawson Carr

My wife and I were very sorry to learn of Hunter's passing. For several years Hunter and I enjoyed many games of tennis at the Chapel Hill Tennis Club. Our condolences to the Hunter Ballew family. I grew up with Hunter in Nebo, N C when we were children. We enjoyed playing tennis at his home for many years. Hunter was a very special person -a kind and wonderful friend to everyone he met and a lot of fun. We were so proud of his many accomplishments in his life and he will always be remembered as my great friend.
