Not sure what to say?

Ian with my partner, Jean-Yves. I could always count on him to give visiting friends the best walking tour of Victorian San Francisco. He was a valued friend to me, as well.

Dear Maggie I am so sorry to learn of Ian's passing at this late date. Ian was my realtor when I first moved to San Francisco in 1998 and wisely convinced me to buy the Noe Valley home where I still reside to this day. I fondly remember his inviting me for dinner at your gracious home after completion of the purchase and his annual delivery of holiday truffles for the next 25 years. My deepest condolences to you. He was a remarkable person. Larry Braverman

Dear Maggie, It has been years since I last saw Ian at an antique fair in New York, but I remember it so vividly-because his enthusiasm was always so infectious. During my time in the Bay Area he was a source of companionship-sharing a love of decorative arts-especially the nineteenth century -and cats. I remember Max as a kitten-a large kitten-and Ian so excited to have him. The decorative arts field will be less fun without Ian. I am sending deepest sympathies at this difficult...

I am so sorry to discover that Ian died last February. He was immeasurably helpful and patient in guiding me through the purchase of the lovely Victorian I still live in. I always enjoyed his the opportunity to check in with him during annual holiday "truffle" visits. His interests were broad and extended beyond the state of the real estate market to movies, politics, antique glass and Maine coon cats.

I had the privilege of being Ian's and Margaret's mover for decades. Through Ian's respected recommendations I got to move many of his real estate clients. Over the years this was very important to my family. Ian was demanding, generous, loyal and above all very respectful. Margaret may you find the strength and grace to get through this sad time. ...

Our sincere condolences. We have great respect for a man we admired and trusted, rest in peace, Ian. So many memories of touring homes with him over the years- following his sneakers and knowledge up flights of stairs learning so much about SF history, art, and people. He sold us our first home in San Francisco more than 20 years ago...He will remain an icon of San Francisco real estate.

So sad to hear about Ian's passing. I loved having conversations with him. We kept in touch over the years after we bought our house with him. He was truly a Renaissance man. He will be missed.

I loved Ian and learned so much from him. He was a big influence on me, and ignited my love of Victorian architecture, furniture and design. I first met him in 1987 when he was the seller's agent when we purchased our first house in SF. He was so clearly very knowledgeable and very good at his job, and so after that purchase, we hired him for each of the next 3 real estate transactions we did. And for several others that did not consummate. I loved coming to his and Maggie's home just to...
