Not sure what to say?

Dear Karen,

As an old high school friend, I have many memories of Douce. Just looking at the guestbook entries is a real flashback to the past. I can't believe that we lived in the same city for so many years without knowing it.
My sincere condolences to you and your family. I will make a donation to the Cancer Agency in his memory. Ann Talbot (Vancouver, BC)

Condolences on the passing of Douce.
He was truly One of a Kind ,and always added great humour ,unique perspective , and a great type of edge to things.Way to young.

Dear Karen,

we are out of the country so were unable to attend Deuce's memorial on Monday.

We had an email from Colin Mackenzie telling us about his service, how well attended it was, and how many beautiful things were said about him.

He was an icon and a truly rare individual. Every time I think of him, I smile. He had that effect on people.

My thoughts are with you and Chantelle, Lauren and Scott.
We will be in touch when we're back home in...

thanks bob,all I can remember from douce were good times, his afro hair, his earth shoes, his baby face smile, and could he drink beer.My condolences to his family and friends.
Hi al

The last time we saw Douce was in our back yard with the Burps, David Mackenzie and Craig. We sat outside after dinner and laughed into the night as he he recounted hilarious stories of times gone by. There are so many. He had a great ability to make people laugh and see the positive. Our heartfelt condolences go out to you, Karen and to your family. With warmth, Scott and Joanne

Hello Karan: I grew up with Deuce in Ottawa in our much younger years and have the fondest memories of him. The last time we saw each other was was about 10 years ago in Vancouver at a party at the Burpees. It was so good to see him and recount our youthful adventures and to see he was still the great person I knew way back when. He still had that sense of humour, a twinkle in his eye and the sincerity in his voice. He was the real thing, a truly good man, a person we will always remember....

So sorry to hear - it has been quite a while but he always did, and still brings a smile to your face.

A warm generous and fun guy - rest in peace Douce!!

Karen, I'm so shocked and sorry to hear about Douce. I have so many memories of time spent with him, going back some 50 years. He had a special talent for adding some humour to any situation and was always available to help out others. I can't believe I won't have the opportunity to run into him again somewhere in my life, but will surely always remember him. My thoughts are with you and the kids.

Hi Karen,

Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of Ian. We grew up together and spent lots of time in public school and high school getting into all sorts of trouble. When I recount stories of our childhood (to my wife and kids) the names Douce, Pogo, Burp, Lange and Geordie always surface and everyone is quite enamored with the names and the stories. Of course – some stories will never be re-told. In the olden days we all played pick-up hockey, scrub baseball,...
