Dec 7, 1937 – June 23, 2011
"Monty" passed away peacefully on June 23, 2011 at the age of 73 in Victoria, BC surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife Frances, son Brian, daughter Donna, grandson Tanner, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in London, Ontario, Monty joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 17. He was stationed at CFB Centralia, Cold Lake, Trenton, 407 Squadron in Comox, and ended his long career instructing at CFB Penhold. Upon retiring he returned to the Comox Valley where he worked in the community and volunteered in many Royal Canadian Legion activities in Courtenay. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and comrades, including those from the Legion and the "A & W Crew". Lest we forget. A Celebration of Life and Poppy Tribute will take place on Thursday, June 30 at 1:00 pm at the Courtenay Legion upper hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 17, 367 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC, V9N 2J1.
