It´s hard to believe it´s been 5 years. Of course I hadn´t seen you in awhile since stopping to visit at a meet in Santa Barbara. I´ll always cherish the time we had back in the 60´s.

I've thought of you so often, wondered how you were getting along. It's hard to believe the years that has gone by since the times we met over on Sawtelle. 65'66'67'. You were a very nice friend and your community has lost a legend. Rest in Peace.

You will be greatly missed Pete and may you RIP. Such a sweet, kind gentle man and true friend of masters track and field.

I'll be honest, I knew nothing of this man before his death. However, that being said... after researching his career under Bill Hayward and Bill Bowerman I was blown away. Furthermore, as a big fan of running history and track & field. I was blown away to learn of his dedication and love for the sport. His work as a statistician not only added value to track and field history, but preserved it. Its what carries on track and field for the future.

WHEN IN THE 1960S DAVID H.R. PAIN was laying the groundwork for the masters movement in track & field, Peter Mundle was the first dominant distance runner to surface. Pete ruled the roost of age 40+ runners. A lot of runners who knew Pete and ran behind him on the track and on the roads knew that to be a fact.
