Ida J. (Abbruzzi) Nolan, 76, a homemaker of Locust Terrace, Warren, R.I., died Thursday, February 27, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.

She was the beloved wife of William R. “Cap” Nolan.

Born, Dec. 22, 1926 and a lifelong resident of Warren, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Dominica (Lautieri) Abbruzzese.

A former tennis player, she was an avid gardener and loved birds.

Besides her husband of 54 years, she is survived by

a son, John P. Nolan of Warren;

5 daughters, Kate MacDougall, Mary Jackson and Ruth Carroll, all of Warren, Jane Shanley of Westerly and Margaret St.John of Narrangansettl

a brother, John Abbruzzese of Providence;

2 sisters, Telina Provuncher and Margaret Braz, both of Warren;

a beloved friend, Shirley Leahy of Attleboro;

13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late James Abbruzzi, Mario Abbruzzi, Louis Abbruzzi, Pasquale “Pat” Abbruzzi, Alvera Abbruzzi, Eleanor Mayhew and Mary Larsen.

Following cremation, a memorial mass will be held Tuesday, March 4, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s of the Bay Church, Main St., Warren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 50 Maude St., Providence, RI 02908.
