Ida Smith Strong Ida Smith Strong, 82, of Orange, Virginia, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Amerisist of Orange. Born on May 29, 1930, in Madison County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Kirby R. Smith and Vosie Meadows Smith. Ida was also predeceased by her husband, William "Billy" Henry Strong; and one brother, K. R. Smith. Ida attended Emanuel Episcopal Church in Rapidan and was a life and founding member of the Rapidan Volunteer Fire Company. She was also a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fire Company. Ida is survived by two sisters, Erbie Brown and husband, Walter, of Warrenton, and Laura Marshall and husband, Byron, of Richmond; two nieces; and two nephews. A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Emanuel Episcopal Church cemetery, Rapidan, Virginia. Denise Vogt and David Brown will speak at the service. The family will receive friends immediately after the graveside service at the Rapidan Volunteer Fire Company. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rapidan Volunteer Fire Company, 9729 Locust Dale Rd., Rapidan, VA 22733 or Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, VA 22701. Preddy Funeral Home of Orange, is assisting the family.

Ida was a wonderful lady whose love for everyone she knew showed her spirit. Her undying dedication to the Rapidan VFD will never go unnoticed. As a staple in Orange and Rapidan, Ida was a name so many knew. Mrs. Ida, we love you!

Ida was like a mother to my father. I will never forget the constant love, support, and kindness she gave to him and to his children. Thank you, Ida, for everything. You will be deeply missed.

Ida was a dear friend of my mother and an angel here on earth. You will surely be missed by so many.
