Idell Barnett Springate Thurman, 87, of Lawrenceburg passed away Saturday, February 07, 2015 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. The widow of J. W. Springate and also widow of her second husband Millard Thurman, Idell was born December 30, 1927 in Washington County the daughter of the late Ollie Barnett and the late Hazel Sea Barnett.

A 1945 graduate of Western High School, Idell was a retired employee of Texas Instruments. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and formerly was a member of Fairview Christian Church. Idell was formerly active in the Fox Creek Homemakers, and a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Hamilton Chapter #293. She is remembered by her family and friends as a proud mother and adoring grandmother, who loved people and having fun.

Idell is survived by her three sons, Jerry (Betty) Springate of Lawrenceburg, Larry (Karen) Springate of Lexington, and Mickey Springate of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, Bryan Springate of Lawrenceburg, Jay Bruce Springate of Seattle, WA, Scarlett (David Cooker) Springate of Cortland, NY, and Samuel Springate of Lexington; a great grandchild Kelsey Springate; two sisters, Gertrude Conway of Mt. Washington and Linda (Chester) Sutherland of Lawrenceburg; two brothers, John Barnett and Linual (Florence) Barnett, both of Lawrenceburg; and a sister-in-law Betty Barnett of Lawrenceburg.

She was also preceded in death by siblings, Sidney Claiborne Sea, Ralph Barnett, Aaron Barnett, Thurl Barnett, Ruben Barnett, and Brenda Stucker.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church. Dr. Jeff Eaton and Dr. Robert F. Ehr will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Grant Mathes officiating at the grave-side service. Visitation will be 5 – 8 pm Tuesday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home and from 10 – 1 pm Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Kenny Barnett, Steve Barnett, Mark Drury, Wayne Young, Bobby Springate, and Louis Sea.

A special gratitude is extended to her faithful and dedicated caregiver, Anna Russell, and to her most helpful neighbors, Roger Rose and Brian Cramer and their families.
