Not sure what to say?

Mr. Namiotka was my English teacher at Edgewood Regional in my freshman, junior and senior years. I thought at first he was a little too hard on us but I was mistaken. He was one of the best teachers ever and I really enjoyed his classes. Wish I could have had him in college. Anyway, he and his brother Joseph were excellent teachers. What a nice guy!!!

I was reading an essay written by my daughter (an English teacher) today and it made me think of my high school English teacher who had such a profound influence on me. My friends and I used to drop by uninvited at the apartment he shared with Joe. We were always made welcome. Goodbye, my friend. And thanks.

Iggy and I, along with my brother, Leo, were childhood buddies, spending much of our youth traipsing the woods near the Jiggers (swimming hole). Later we all played football together for the mighty Atoms. The last time we connected was in St. Augustine when I was visiting Joe, prior to his passing. We had great times together as kids, hanging out at the "Choker's", and playing poker in Billy John's basement. Although we lost touch in later years, the childhood memories remain vivid. Sail on,...

I will always remember his quick smile. I last saw him at his brother Joe's funeral in Shenandoah. At that time he said to me that SCHS educated us to leave Shenandoah and make our way into the world.

I knew Iggy in high school and liked him a lot but we were not good or close friends (two years apart). I had not heard from him or seen him for over 20 years, but when my wife and I moved here (Margate, New Jersey) one Saturday in mid-September there was a knock on our door and there were Iggy and Joe ready to do anything to help us get set up. And that was typical of what he and his wife Jean did for us to get acquainted and settled in a new place. Generous of spirit? Oh yes. And funny...

I went to high school with Iggy and he and I were good friends. I remember him with great fondness and send my deepest sympathy. Lou Tierney Radak

Ignatius and Joseph, September, 1944

I never met Iggy in person but he was an electronic friend, as was his late brother Joe. They were great resources and supporters of preserving the history of the coal region and Schuylkill County, PA.
