Igor and his wife Alla helped the Benicia Historical Museum commemorate the love story between Concepcion Arguello and Nikolai Rezanov. Our Museum Director Julia Bussinger and I went to the Russian Center to see a program on this story. When we obtained soil from Nikolai's grave in Krasnyarsk both Igor and Alla spread it on Concepcion's grave in the St. Dominic's Cemetery in Benicia where she is buried. Igor was a true gentleman, always courtly and kind and welcoming. Taking my paintings to his frame shop was a treat. He never rushed-he always had time to chat, appraise my work with a critical eye and make encouraging comments. It was also a treat to retrieve the work after he´d framed it because the pieces always looked better in their new frames. I join the legions of family and friends that will miss him. I will always treasure the memories of those visits.
