He was born October 24, 1924, in Brownsville, TN to the union of Thad and Rachel Taylor. Ike retired from the Air Force after serving 25 years; he also retired from the county where he worked at the Ventura County jail for 19 years. He worked at the Ventura Townhouse and Hueneme Christian Elementary School.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father; wife Clara Taylor and daughter Linda Taylor.

He is survived by his children Ike Taylor Jr. (Nona) of Tehachapi, Calif., Hazel Jackson, Deborah Stewart, Joyce Moody and Bruce Taylor of Oxnard; 9 grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing/visitation on Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 5-8p.m. at the Funeria Del Angel Conrad's & James Reardon, 401 W. Channel Islands Blvd, Oxnard, Calif., and the funeral service will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11a.m. at Bethel AME Church, 855 S. "F" St., Oxnard, Calif., with the burial to follow at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

I read your father's obituary today and it brought back memories of you during your years in Ventura County.

I am saddened for your loss as well as the Taylor family. I met and spoke with your dad during my working years in the Ventura County Probation Dept. He was a class gentleman and leaves behind a family who can take pride in how he lived and passed on his wise counsel.

I was saddend to read of Ike's death. Ike was a real gentleman. He served his country and the people of Ventura County for most of his working life. He loved his family and often spoke of them at work. Ike will be missed by all of us who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
