Mrs. Ila Mae Brock Phillips, age 75, of Rome, passed away Friday, December 26, 2014, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Plant City, FL on May 30, 1939, daughter of the late A. L. Brock Sr. and the late Nisey Parks Brock. She was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, Evelyn Weatherington, Christine Brock, Edna Carlo, and Emily Gore, and by 3 brothers, Melvin, Joe, and A. L. Brock, Jr. Mrs. Phillips was employed as a Para-pro with the Hillsborough County School System in Tampa, FL for a number of years. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Bennett Daniel "Ben" Phillips, to whom she was married on November 6, 1958; 2 sons, Mike Phillips, and his wife, Elita, Tampa, FL, and Greg Phillips, and his wife, Penny, Silver Creek; 7 grandchildren, Greg Phillips, and his wife, Briana, Kennesaw, Lauren Phillips, Tuscaloosa, AL, Michael, Daniel, and Grace Phillips, all of Tampa, FL, and Biddy and Annabelle Braden, both of Silver Creek; a sister, Lucille Faircloth, Plant City, FL; 2 brothers, Evans and Jerry Brock, both of Plant City, FL; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at 2pm at the graveside in Rome Memorial Park. Dr. Bill Landers will officiate.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.

God Bless the family of Ila Mae, my classmate at Turkey Creek High School, class of 1956. The last time I saw her was at our 45th reunion, we talked at length and it was a good time that I will treasure.
