Not sure what to say?

I learned only today of the passing of my dear friend and former neighbor, Ilene. What I would give for just another visit over tea in one of our homes. Although shocked today, I was blessed with sitting next to her recently at a stage offering of "My Fair Lady" -- she was that and more -- artist, friend, neighbor, advisor. I will always cherish our time spent together here on Earth. My heart goes out to the sons and to Katherine, as well as extended family. She will be missed.

I grew up on Madrona Beach. Mrs. Smith was always smiling, always pleasant and welcoming when I was around. The world is less joyful with her passing.

To The Family of Ilene Smith,
I was so sorry to hear of Ilene's illness and passing. I have very fond memories of Ilene from Karaoke at the Corner, to her quilting and her love of animals, her own and everyone else's. She was the ultimate description for "to be interesting you have to be interested" because she had an intense appetite for knowledge and loved "learning something".
I know you all have fond memories that will bring a smile to your faces, it will just take some...

My name is Kathey Wyckoff. I was neighbor to Ilene while I lived at Simmons Mill. We shared many life stories. I always enjoyed the birds that came to visit her bird feeders off her deck. One day a grouse visited us and Ilene took a picture. She was so excited she thought it was a pheasant. Ilene helped me with my first quilt for my great grandson and one for my step son's first baby just this year. My dogs, Max, Huck, and I will miss her very much. My sympathy to all of Ilene's family...

Her Wedding

As her granddaughter, I greatly miss her as do my family. I was actually quite close to her as she taught me to sew and had started me on a quilt. My grandmother also had given me my first sewing machine for christmas, and taught me the basics of embroidery. Thinking of her reminds me of all of the wonderful things she did, and how I wish for her rememberance to live on.
