A Celebration of Life Service for Ima Jeanette Newcomb Gibens, 95, was 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Warren Jones and Bro. David Coln officiating. Burial followed in the Henry Cemetery. A Family and Friends Gathering was Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 1 p.m. to service time.
Jeanette died Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born December 3, 1929 in Corinth to the late Johnnie E. and Mildred Newcomb. She was a long-time member of North Corinth Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school up until her eighty's. She was a 1949 graduate of Kossuth High School (Alcorn Agricultural High School). She was best known for her time at Newcomb's Florist, where she helped run the family florist until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Gibens; daughter, Sherron Moss Shadburn; parents, brother, Johnnie Frank Newcomb; sister, Violet Dawson; and daughter-in-law, Denise Gibens.
She is survived by her sons, Harvey Moss (Lana) and Ricky Gibens; daughter, Patti Sherard (Keith); son-in-law, Donny Shadburn; grandchildren Tyler Moss (Alli), Bethany Riley (Tory), Evan Gibens (Stacy), and Nathan Gibens, (fiance Sara); great grandchildren, Grier Moss, Greeneley Moss, Lidde Hopkins Moss, Casen Riley, Greta Riley, Wyatt Gibens, and Hallie Gibens; sister, Eloise Phillips and her son Mike who has taken care of Jeanette and his mother; nephews, Todd Dawson, Danny Carter; and special family friend, Robert Wilkins.
Pallbearers are Tyler Moss, Evan Gibens, Nathan Gibens, Tory Riley, Mike Phillips, Todd Dawson, Robert Wilkins, and Danny Carter.
