Peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 Ioan "John" Istrate in his 59th year. Husband of Elzbieta Bialowas. Loving father of Ada Istrate (Brandon Papp) and Victoria Istrate. He is survived by his brother in Romania. Predeceased by his parents Ioana and Gerghiu Istrate. A loyal friend to many he will be missed by them all, may he rest in peace. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street on Monday from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church (419 Hill Street) on Monday at 1:00 p.m.

I only got to meet John on 2 occasions. I would have loved to get to know him better. He had a beautiful spirit. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. His loss is felt by many.
