Not sure what to say?

Ira Finkel was a very caring man and an excellent teacher. His lectures caught me at a turning point, motivating me to go i a new direction. I am motivated by him in my interactions with students. David Attwood, University of California, Berkeley

Ira Finkel was a great teacher and a wonderful person. A great mentor. Always with a smile. An important person in my life. David Attwood

Ira Finkel was a most excellent teacher and motivator. I have such clear memories of his class. He had a constant smile. He called me on the phone 40 years later, said 'is this david attwood', and recognizing his voice 'I said is this Mr. Finkel'.We had a wonderful discussion. What a man, so dedicated to teaching and his students. Class of 1959.

Mr. Ira Finkel,(after all these years, not possible to address him by his first name!)was a fine, endearing teacher. My love of learning is a result of his inspiration.

As many before me have written, Mr.Finkel was a very special person and a wonderful teacher. It was a delight having the opportunity to see him again at the 2002 class reunion. I will always remember him with very fond memories.
My very deepest condolences to his wife, children, family and friends. I know he will be missed by all.

If a student is fortunate they have a few great teachers in their life. Ira Finkel was one of those: Smart, caring, humerous, innovative, encouring and very handsome. He was and will remain one my great ones.

Ira was a Gentleman who gave so much to the classes at ITMHS. Remembering him will be something all of us will do with great affection.

Whenever I think about the teachers I had at Island Trees a seemingly uncontrollable smile appears on my face when Mr. Finkel comes to mind. I remember how he would blush so easily and that twinkle in his eyes. Years later when I met him at our 2002 reunion I could see the blush and twinkle were still there. I was glad that I had the opportunity to thank him for being there for us during those early years of our lives. He was truly a Gentle Man who had our admiration and love. You would...

As a member of the class of 59' I have and will always remember "Mr. Finkel" as a caring person who loved to teach and set qualities in us that I suspect are still with us. Those that knew him know exactly what I mean.

My sympathy to his wife and family for their loss.
