Gordon, Ira L. age 71, born November 3, 1941, was an astrologer, philosopher, intellectual, a mystic. He was the rare soul who sought a kind of perfection for himself, defined by principles he learned at first through Judaism, through the great philosophers and thinkers across cultures and time. He embraced, in every moment, an ethos of caring for all men, especially the disenfranchised. Through his writing of plays, essays, poems and other texts; through dance and through dialogue he encouraged bridging differences between people of every creed, race and religion. Ira embraced the spirit in himself and in friends, students, lovers and family. He believed in the capacity for growth and ultimately of transcendence. He pursued truth with a fierceness few of us know about - to the very last moment. Funeral service 2:00 P.M. TUESDAY at HODROFF-EPSTEIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 126 East Franklin Ave., In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Hand in Hand. Family and friends will gather following the cemetery service at 133 West 50th, Mpls., with a SHIVA service at 5:30 P.M. Hodroff-Epstein 612 871-1234 www.hodroffepstein.com

Not sure what to say?

Just in the past week I saw someone (in NC) who looked just like Ira and I wished I could have just one more conversation with him. We were both part of the Minnesota Jung Association, but our talks always went far afield from there.

Remembering all our conversations transcending words. I enjoy them still.

I am so saddened to learn of the passing of Ira. He was a pretty amazing guy with interests in everything. I connected with him through several types of organizations, and was recently thinking of connecting for another astrological reading. His passing is a huge loss to this community. I am grateful for having known him. Blessings on his journey.

anyone fortunate enough to have known Ira couldn't help but be a better person for that experience.

We were saddened to see this news at the Southdale Hennepin County Library. Ira did much of his writing here in the evenings and he was someone I was always happy to see. My colleagues and I will miss his gentle and thoughtful presence.

I am sorry to hear that he has passed on., he was a kind individual.

I'm so sorry now that I didn't follow my instincts and call Ira a few weeks ago. For several years, even after my move from the TC to NC, Ira was a dear friend and colleague; I treasure the moments I had with him.

We are sorry to learn of the death of your brother. We pray that his death was peaceful. Don and Mary Conroy

Ira was the best kind of leader in my opinion. He graciously accepted whatever gift you had to offer and helped you make the most of it. You will be very sorely missed, Ira, but, what can we do, as your friends, but lovingly release your star to burn ever brighter?!
