Ira Payne Jones

I spoke with Lillian (Lullums) Sharp this past Sunday and was saddened to learn of Ira's passing. He was a lifelong friend of my father, Lurton (Sunny) Goodpasture,Jr., who died nearly 40 years ago (March 19, 1973). I visited with Sid Smith and his wife, Iris yesterday, and we talked at some length about our memories of Ira, as he and Ira were my father's two best friends. Dear Billie, I did not know Ira, but he sounds like a wonderful and interesting man. My sympathy to you and the family. Hope to see you at UM when you can make it. The class of 56 sticks together.
