Not sure what to say?

Ellen Cole sends condolences to Anita and so wishes this was not the case. My memories of trips around Italy with Ira and "the engineer" as Ira taught English and the engineer taught history and social secrets are one of the highlights of my year in Bologna. Our reunions - 25th with a trip from Bologna to Venice and our 50th denied the years in between. Our friendship rests on his imaginative, probing mind and his indelible personality. I miss him.

I was going through Facebook and saw the news, and am at a loss for words. The world has lost an incredibly charming man whose love and appreciation for the arts surpassed even some of the most passionate people in the trade. I will miss Ira and our regular chats on the phone, and I will always remember that summer spent at David Whites Lane. Axel and Naneen Neubohn are very saddened by this news. We had recently chatted to Ira about our 55th reunion this year in Bologna and we had no idea that he was ailing in such a manner. He was a special person and so proud of his daughter whose tribute was very touching. We will miss him.

Ira Kornbluth was a unique and valuable Friend. I will miss him immeasurably. I first met him at Bronx Science many many many years ago. (I was June Tauber and he was an older classmate.) He married, had a child, divorced, and had some trying times. When he tracked me down again,...

Born May 24, 1941, in New York City, Ira Kornbluth soon set his sights on wider horizons. He left home behind for the University of Wisconsin to earn a BA in history, followed by an MA in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C., and Bologna, Italy, and a degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. From there, having married for the first time in 1967, he embarked on a circuitous path that included working for the...
