Not sure what to say?

My last memory was excellent: Wife Darlene and ran into Irene at a Chris Isaak concert at Humphrey's on the Bay and all of us raved at what a great time we had. Many memories of Irene during my years in the Kaplan lab. Sometimes there could be some tension, but Irene was always above bothering about that and so was great to sit down with for a few minutes to restaighten bearings. She was good at it!

I met Bill and Irene in 1977 when I joined the research group of Professor N.O. Kaplan at UCSD. Irene, Gillian Beattie (another member of the Kaplan group) and I have children of similar ages (teenagers at the time) which was an additional tie that bound us together besides work concerns. The three of us remained in touch in the past three and half decades even after I left UCSD in 1987. When I returned to San Diego in 1996, Irene, Gillian and I would get together 2-3 times a year for lunches...

My deepest condolences on the loss of your mother. I was your mothers Dental Hygienist for many years. I was so sad to read in the paper of her passing. She was one of my favorite patients. She had a great personality and we had lots of laughs. It was always a pleasure to see her. I will never forget that she always wore such colorful and hip glasses. I´m sure she will be missed. May you find peace in all the wonderful memories you shared with Irene. Love, Cathy Riley

She will be missed by so many. She was also a pianist and at one time my piano tuner which I held in great awe. I know her walking group must be very saddened and I will miss her attendance and warm smile at UCSD concerts. Jeanne Saier

We had last seen Irene at Eamon and Sara;s wedding which was such a happy event. Bill was there and merrily photographing everything that moved and had an album the next day. We ran into Irene while we gift shopping and she has such a sharp wit and good humor that will be missed. Too bad we did not live closer to her. As a young boy, I also remember the times at Brant Rock when the whole crew was singing GOODNIGHT IRENE. She was a lovely person and will be sorely missed.
