Irene Castle Broadman

Mrs. Broadman was my fourth-grade teacher at La Mesa Elementary in Monterey, California. She lives in my memory as one of the best teachers I have ever had; she instilled in me a love of reading as well as an awareness of current events and how they might impact our world and lives. "This is history in the making, class", is an oft-repeated phrase of hers that I vividly remember, 52 years later! Thank you, ma'am!
