My memories of Irene date back to 1954. We're sitting in the living room of our 2nd floor apartment at 5422 University (the Custers lived in the 1st floor apartment, just below ours). We're listening to the McCarthy hearings while watching our baby girls, Shannon and Karen, or more accurately competing over which one had the cutest wiggle when she crawled, and which would be the first to transition from all fours to upright.
