RICHARDSON, Mrs. Irene "Virginia" Lewis, of Richmond, departed this life November 1, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis C. Richardson. She is survived by one son, Michael Richardson; one daughter- in-law, Margaret Richardson; two grandsons, Christopher Michael and Marcus Joel Richardson; five sisters, Beulah Prentis, Jean Burrell, Robinette Peebles, Charlene Lewis and Mildred Hunt; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, among them devoted niece and caregiver, Charlotte Harris; two brothers-in-law, William C. Belton Sr. and Robert Peebles; and other relatives and friends, among them two devoted, Margaret Carter and Herman Robertson. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Riverview Baptist Church, 2604 Idlewood Avenue, where remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time. Dr. Stephen Hewlett, pastor, officiating. Interment Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Family and friends please assemble at the church at 12:45 p.m. Friday. The loss of someone so close is difficult to bear. We share your grief.

I am sending condolences on behalf of my mom, Bertha Lewis. My mother was a childhood friend of your mom. They started achool together at Sidney School and later Randolph School. My mother lived in the 1900 block of Idlewood Avenue and your mother and her sisters, brothers and parents lived in the 1700 block of Idlewood Avenue. May God bring you and your family peace in the midst of this storm.

Dear Michael,

I was saddened to hear of the loss of your dear Mother. I had the opportunity to visit with her several times in your parent's home and always found her to be so welcoming. I pray that God will bless you with peace and comfort during this time of sorrow.
