Irene G. (Favreau) Spencer, 95, formerly of Bolton and Clinton, died Thursday, February 11, 2016 in Mount St. Rita Health Centre, Cumberland, RI, after an illness.

She leaves a son, Walter H. Spencer, III, and his wife, Dianne, of Franklin; a sister, Theresa Bastine, of Leominster; two brothers: Edmond Favreau of Leominster, and Donald Favreau of Chazy, NY; five grandchildren: Nora Lee, Ian, Colin, and Isaac Spencer, and Michael Taylor; great-granddaughters Eleanor, Greta, Lilly, Juliet and Eliza; and her son-in-law, Robert Taylor of Saugus. She was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Walter H. Spencer, Jr., who died in 1972, and their daughter, Mary Ann Taylor, who died in 2014. Four brothers, William, Hector, Leonard, and Henry Favreau, also predeceased her.

Irene was born in Mooers Forks, NY, and raised in Clinton, the daughter of Edmond and Emma (Bosley) Favreau. She attended Clinton Schools, and was a resident of Bolton for 55 years, before returning to Clinton in 1994.

For 32 years, she worked for ITT Surprenant, Clinton, retiring from the Accounts Payable Department in 1987.

A founding member of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Bolton, she was a former member and past Treasurer of the Bolton Senior Center, and a former member of the Bolton Council on Aging. She was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed making clothing for her family and worked part-time doing alterations at Estelle's, formerly of Clinton.

Irene's funeral will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church, 808 Main St., Bolton. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday, February 14, 2016, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Mount St. Rita Health Centre, 15 Sumner Brown Road, Cumberland, RI 02864.
