Not sure what to say?

Laying you to rest with Grandpa Carl was a sad yet beautiful event. We all gathered, love and blood, bringing us together.

The differences were put asside and we joined in honor of you.

We enjoyed each other that weekend. Family was once again realized to be important and priceless to each of us.

Your home town is incredible! It made me long for more time to enjoy the gorgous porches and friendly towns people. Someday in the future I will visit you once more, and when...

Grandmother,
I will cherish the time we spent together in July the rest of my life. You have touched the lives of so many...leaving behind a beautiful legacy of family and music education like no other.
Love you,
Sarah

"Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:6

I praise God for the witness, love, discipline, and character formation Iris Engel gave to me. Whenever I am asked who have been the greatest influences in my life, she always tops the list, because she did so from early on. Gifts of self-confidence (all those monthly recitals, federation contests and Guild auditions), appreciation for the lovely (I am still amazed she had all those antiques out at the Music School with so many of us children!), and a deep sense of gratitude for the God who...

I would like to express my condolences to the family of Iris Engel Barnes. I know that she was much loved. Her major contributions as a music educator I know have touched and improved the lives of many, many people. With love, Susannah Stuart Flynn

To IDE from CSC: You gave me music and a place to learn and grow up (in my dreams I still find myself working at the studio). You were my teacher, my mentor, and my role model. I may have forgotten much that you taught me at the keyboard, but I will never forget you. Love always, Connie Sue

Iris Daniel Engle Barnes gave me the love and appreciation of music that I still have to this day. She encouraged me to practice and do my best at the piano. I got a late start due to a football injury and was certainly not her best student. But she pushed me hard and showed me the how hard work can pay off in life. For that, I will always be appreciative to her.
My condolences to the family.

Mrs. Engel was my first piano teacher in the mid to late 50s, and I held her in very great esteem. Words fail me to tell you how profoundly she influenced my life. That music has sustained me all these years. To this day, I can see her still, sitting in her classroom. Once, during a lesson, we sat at the two concert grand pianos there, and together we played a Rachmaninoff composition for two pianos. I shall treasure that moment all my life.

Mom, Every trip to the piano is because of you. Thank you for the gift of music. Love Always, Drucilla

Dearest Grandmother,

There were a lot of us grand-children, but each one of us has fond memories of times spent with you.

Your life and spirit will always be alive in your current and future generations.

Your death will once again bring us all together. For that we are all greatful.

Many will remeber you as their piano teacher, co-worker, or friend.... but we will remember you as family.

To all who sign her guest book: Thank you for remembering her....
