Benson, Iris Prell Of Mpls. Entered her heavenly home on 2/24/09 at age 91. She was born 01/27/1918 in Cumberland, WI. Iris came to Mpls. to attend the U of M where she later met her husband, Lawrence Bernard Benson, whom she married on 6/10/1941. Together they raised 4 children. Her greatest joys in life came from her faith, family, friends and her beautiful flowers. Iris and Larry's dear Pastor William Berg introduced them to the Christian Ashram Movement and they had the opportunity to travel internationally. In retirement years, she gave many volunteer hours as the registrar of the MN Chrisitian Ashram. Iris was preceeded in death by her husband, Larry; sister, Mary Anne Prell and brother, Jack W. Prell. Her survivors include her 4 children: Iris Smyth (William), Jack Benson (Linda), Judith Madsen (John), Marjorie Mord (Michael); 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorial service 2 PM Sat., 3/7/09, Augustana Lutheran Church, 704 11th Ave. S., Mpls. www.augustanampls.org No flowers please. We were very good friends with your Mom and Grandmother. My family lived in Cumberland for many years and your grandmother and my grandmother were best friends. My grandmother's family name was Strathman, Anna

Thinking of you as Iris Sr's life is celebrated and reviewed. She surely left the family and her associates with an examlle of how to live. Her contributions remain and will be remembered. She always referred to me as her "son".
