Not sure what to say?

I attended HUP School of Nursing from 1955-1958. Both Miss Machlans were role models for me during those very important years. I'm afraid there were times when I tried Iris Machlan's patience, but she always handled any situation with tact and dignity, setting a good example for impatient, impetuous me. I have had 50 years of rewarding nursing practice thanks to the incredible start I got at HUP and the influence of Iris Machlan Gross. I offer my condolences to her family and friends on their...

Dear Pat, (or Patti)
For my entire HUP training years, you both were present (1955-1958).
Please accept my genuine and loving sympathy upon your dear sister's death. She was a wonderful teacher and mentor and I am certain will be greatly missed by you and all her wonderful family whom I was not priveleged to have known. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you. Anne Keller Flowers HUP, Sept. 1958

Iris was my treasured client and friend for the last 15 years. I have been out of the state since the 28th of June,I read online today, and was so sad to know this way. I will miss seeing her sweet smile every Saturday. My Saturdays will never be the same! She blessed everyone she touched! I feel so blessed to have been able to serve her these last few years. I am relieved to know she will be out of pain now. Rest in peace my sweet Iris!!!!!!!!

Sincere condolences to all the Gross family. Patti, I have lost your regular, address information; therefore, have lost touch. But, the wonderful memories of our days together at HUP, live on vividly in my memory. You have been on my mind so often. We know your loss is huge and we will keep you close in our thoughts and prayers. Iris was such a wonderful and influential person. I will always remember our days in the OB-GYN instructor's office and how helpful she was anytime we needed...

I was a student in HUP (Hospital of University of Pa.) and graduated in Sept. '58 when Iris was our Assistant Director of the School of Nursing and I still feel her influence in my life as a nurse, wife, & mother. I can think of no one whom I admired more as an instructor, teacher, nurse and mentor.
Her teachings live on in our lives.
My sympathy goes out to her husband, sister, children, and all her professional colleages. She will be sorely missed by all.

Stan-
I'm so sorry to learn of your loss. Iris posessed many qualities and will leave me with only good memories. Please feel free to call me when I can help you.

Even though I graduated in 1972, I can still remember Mrs. Gross telling us that "nurses are not hand-maidens." That message has stayed with me. She was ahead of her time. My condolences to your family.

My condolences to the family, especially Patti Graef. After over 30 years have paased since I graduated from HUP Schoolof Nursing and I still feel the influence Mrs.Gross has had on my nursing career. She lives on in all of us in some way.
