Iris Elizabeth Pittman

I WAS GREATLY SURPRISED TO HEAR OF
THE PASSING OF IRIS PITTMAN. SHE WAS MY CLASSMATE AT CHEYNEY UNIV PA.
IRIS WAS A FRIEND TO ALL WHO KNEW
HER. SHE TOOK MANY OF US HOME DURING
OUR UNDERGRADUATE DAYS AT CHEYNEY.MY
DEEPEST CONDOLENCE TO THE FAMILY. SHE WAS MY FRIEND AND MY DELTA SOROR. SHE WILL TRULY BE MISSED BY THE CLASS OF 1959. I LAST TALKED TO
HER IN NOV 2003. I WILL ALWAYS CHERISH HER MEMORY AS A TRUE FRIEND.

We enjoyed our many visits with
Iris in Aberdeen, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. We always thought of her as a Cousin and loving member of our immediate,
rather than extended family.

She left us with many fun-filled and wonderful memories.

We will miss her.

Iris was the best neighbor anyone could wish for. She made me feel welcome as soon as I moved here. Over the years it seemed almost as if the block was a dorm, and Iris was our housemother. The holiday gatherings at her house and her constant attention to the yards and gardens of the entire row contiributed so much to our community. It was a blessing to have known her, and I will miss her always.

We will miss you.

Iris was like a sister to Fish and myself from the time we were teenagers at Lincoln University. She treated us like members of her family fussing and keeping us straight along with Joffie and George, her brothers. We love her and will miss her. --Billy and Fish

Iris and I were family--first cousins. We would occasionally visit each other in Raleigh, Warsaw, or Philly. Also, we occasionally called each other. Iris was an inspiration to me as the older successful relative. She accomplished a lot of great things in her life and she will be missed.
