CLOSED-Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary Obituary

Irma "Mom" SzalayDecember 4, 1914 - March 7, 2011It seems eerily different on Palm Street now that Mom has passed away. When I open her gate and say, "Hi Mom, I'm here", I get no response. There is no tinkering with the laundry, no filling of the birdbath, no hoeing a few weeds by her. In the...

Not sure what to say?

The timing couldn't be more perfect in my finding this...I was first introduced to Irma by her wild son, Bob. We were only making a short pit-stop, he said... Two hours later, I had a new found friend and a bag of oranges. I marveled at this feisty little woman's ability to stand tall enough to put her son in his place, and then turn around and nurture tanks and tanks of baby shrimp brine for David and his business. As a matter of fact, I first met David when Irma asked me for a ride to his...

Dave, I enjoyed looking at the pictures you posted, even though I never met your mom, I can see how special and devoted she was.

"Full of Life" would really describe Mrs Szalay. I worked at Kaiser Clinic Lab and when she would come in she always had a smile and something postive to say. She was one of the most wonderful women I've ever met. I haven't seen her for years and still remember her so fondly. When you think of someone and it makes you smile - that's a good legacy. God bless you all in her family.

Dear Dave,
It was a pleasure meeting you on the phone the other night.

Our prayers for comfort and peace go out to you and your family.

Blessings,
LJ~

"Jesus said, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live"
John 11:25

Dave, your mom was a very special person who was like an angel, helping everyone along the way. You have been a wonderful son to take care of her in a loving way all these years.
God bless you. One day we'll see her again.

Mrs. Szalay was one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. My late husband, Mike Schoonover, loved her like a second mom. They spent a lot of fun times together and I'm sure their reunion in Heaven was fantastic.
I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with Irma, Mike, and her son David for her ninteith birthday. It was so fun. The world was a better place when Mrs. Szalay lived in it.

My heart and prayers go out to you Dave.

Real sorry Wanda didn't get the opertunity to meet your mom, I'm sure they would have hit it off famously.
Wanda is still not well enough to stay away from the house for any length of time, and sitting in a car for an Hr & a 1/2, is out of the question.
Check with you next time we come down.
You are doing it up RIGHT Dave !.

Love you!

Chuck & Wanda
