Not sure what to say?

To Anne and family: On behalf of the American College of Surgeons, the Commission on Cancer and the American Joint Committee on Cancer, we express our deep sadness on Irv's passing, but join you in celebrating his life and his many contributions to the welfare of cancer patients throughout the world.

My family and I are deeply saddened to hear of Irv's death, but we are much richer for his life. Obviously to Irv his family came first, but I knew him mostly professionally. Beyond all the titles and organizations, Irv was one of the great visionaries of oncology care - seeing way beyond where most of us looked into the future. He will be missed and remembered through the impact he has had on his students and on all people afflcted with cancer.

What a great man and wonderful brother-in-law. My only regret is that we lived at such a great distance that we were unable to spend much time together.
We pray for God's comfort for Ann and the boys.
Wes Eader, Pastor of Kalama Baptist Church, and husband of Vicki, Irv's sister.

To Anne and all the family, I am sorry to hear about Irvin. May God be with you at this time of sorrow.

Dr. Fleming guided me through two personal bouts with breast cancer showing his concern for me throughout. Working with him in surgery was like watching a fine watch tick. Dr. Irv meant a great deal to those who worked with him and to his patients.

To Anne and all, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hunter and family, peace be with you. I am sorry. Love.

I was a first year resident in surgery at LSU the year thar Irv was chief resident. He was a great teacher and friend for fifty years.

I enjoyed working with Dr. Fleming in the OR at Methodist University. He was exacting but such a pleasure to work with. He encouraged everyone to be the best, and will be truly missed.
