My sincere condolences to Irwin's family and relatives.
Irwin was truly in a league of his own. He was my supervisor on VW at DDB and caught me napping one afternoon. (I worked a lot of late nights.) I thought he'd go ballistic but instead was quietly amazed I could "turn it off." Then he proceed to improve my copy. I learned a ton from Irwin. He was tough, honest, funny and cared about doing great work. I'm saddened by his untimely death.

I worked for him for 11 years and there was never a dull moment! I learned so much from him and I'll miss him dearly. "That's my story and I'm stickin to it." Thank you Irwin, you're the best!

He was the epitome of a great creative director -- funny, original, and, ultimately, kind.
