Evans Funeral Home - Florala Obituary

Isaac Albert Gilmore went home to Jesus on January 3, 2024, following a brief illness. He was 78 years old. Ike was the second of two sons born to Clarence and Willie Marie Gilmore on January 31, 1945, in Pensacola, Florida. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. Ike will be dearly missed by his family and friends, but always remembered.

Ike was semi-retired and worked part time as a property inspector. He also spent time volunteering at voting precincts, as well as fishing, gardening and hunting. Ike was a talented, self-taught, saxophone player. Ike never knew a stranger or enemy and always focused on creating a connection with anyone he came into contact with. He greeted everyone with a smile, he was an amazing storyteller, and he could build or repair anything. Anyone who knew Ike knew him to be generous, kind, thoughtful and quitted witted.

Ike was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife, Ruth Gilmore, his son, Kevin Gilmore (Wanda), his daughter, Donna Garrison, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, his brother, Earl "Gill" Gilmore (Yvonne), his niece, Tonia Melton (Guy), nephew, Barry Gilmore (Kathy) and many cousins.

Services will be held at Evans Funeral Home, 2PM Sunday, January 7, 2024.  Visitation will be 1 hour before services.

My Deepest Condolences to you Ruth and the Family. Ike was such a fine Christian man and it was a honor to call him a friend.. Rest in peace, you will be missed.....

We are so totally shocked by the passing of Mr. Isaac Gilmore. He was such a special man and we adored him so much and his lovely wife, Ruth. They were beautiful together and we were so proud to have them part of our lunch program at the Paxton Senior Center. We were so happy to have them attend our Christmas celebrations recently and this just saddens our hearts so much. We ask God to please be with Ruth as we know her heart is broken. Our prayers are with the entire family during this very...
