Isaac "Ike" Stubblefield

I knew Ike when he was in Athens Ga, and worked with him professionally. Despite his stature in the industry and his monumental accomplishment with his instrument he was free of pretense and had no airs, he was a kind and generous gem of a man and I loved him for it. Sitting with him in his basement, he at the keyboard, his hands and their 50 year relationship to the organ...it was often astounding the ease with which he displayed a masterful skill. I'm at a loss, shocked and deeply sad. Ike was my friend for 40 years. A true friend. I met his sisters in Detroit, spent time with him in San Francisco, Palm Springs and Vancouver. 40 years of memories, all good, will never leave my mind. For your endless, kindness and generosity, thank you. To the Stubblefield family, I am deeply sorry for your loss and I share in the grief you've experienced. May you Rest in Peace, my friend. We were neighbors many years ago. We still have fond memories of the Stubblefield family. I remember celebrating my birthday at Rusty's Jazz Cafe, and Ike was Performing there that night. He graciously sang a birthday song to me. I will never forget that night. Our love and condolences goes to the family. May God's love surround you at this time. Friends always.
