Broomhead Funeral Home - Riverton Obituary

Isabelle Elizabeth Johanson, 20, of Bluffdale, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2020. She was in her favorite place: the mountains.       Isabelle was born on February 14, 2000 in Sandy, Utah. She was our Valentine’s Day present and she came to us full of love. She was diagnosed with autism at the age of 5. For the longest time she thought that everybody celebrated Valentine’s Day for her birthday because of her autism. We never told her any different. She showed kindness and love to all who came in contact with her.

She graduated from Riverton High School in 2018 and was currently attending South Valley School where she loved her teachers and friends. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Primary Secretary. She loved going to Institute classes at her school to learn about her Savior through the scriptures. She had a deep and unwavering testimony of the gospel and shared it with the ward frequently.

She was a Whovian through and through. David Tennant (the 10th Doctor) was her favorite. Not only would she watch the Dr. Who television show but listen to the music. She loved any and all music. She loved to sing and had the voice of an angel. She was a member of the Riverton High Ladies Choir all through high school and looked forward every day to singing with the choir. She also loved to sing any Josh Groban song. She and her mom were avid Grobanites and she loved seeing him in concert.

Other favorites of hers were Blue’s Clues, anything Disney and America’s Funniest Home Videos. She also enjoyed watching life hack videos and we have many of those inventions around our home. Her laugh was infectious and we loved hearing it every day.

She is survived by her dad and mom, Shane and Heather Johanson, older sister Eleanore (Brandon) Chambers, younger sister Evelyn, and her Little Brother Wookie (dog). She will be missed by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. She touched many lives with her sweet spirit.

We would like to thank the paramedics and deputies from the Summit County and Wasatch County Sheriff’s Departments. We would also like to thank Broomheads. They all showed kindness and sensitivity.

The viewing and funeral will be attended by immediate family only. Graveside services are welcome to all and will be held at the Riverton Cemetery (1540 W 13200 S, Riverton, Utah) at 12:00 pm. Those who attend the graveside services need to wear masks and follow physical distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, please share your favorite memories of Isabelle.

Not sure what to say?

When I remember Isabelle, the very first thing that comes to mind is her bright smile. Her good moods were infectious. Listening to her talk with enthusiasm about the things she loved (especially Dr. Who, a love we had in common!) never failed to lift my spirits. Isabelle was so fun to be around, and I'm grateful to have known her. My prayers are with the family.

Eternal Friendship Remembrance Bouquet - VASE INCLUDED

Isabelle and I were instant friends and I was her favorite teacher the minute she found out I was from England! Even though I wasnt a Dr Who fan, she forgave me . Ill never forget the day she forgot her black skirt for the school choir concert and making her a make-shift skirt from a black blanket I had in my car! She wore it with pride and sang her little heart out. ♥

I was Isabelles principal in middle school at Mount Jordan. She was such a fun student to see and talk to when I visited classes. I have very fond memories of Isabelle, even after the years passed and all the students I meet. Prayers for your family!

I was lucky enough to work as a teachers aide at RHS and was able to get to know Isabelle there. We drew students names for Christmas one year and I got Isabelle - it was magical watching her open the Dr Who necklace I got her... we bonded over that moment & Dr Who! She loved to share what episode she had watched the night before. One of her classes at RHS drew pictures and sold them to earn money for Silver Rush - of course she drew a wonderful Dr Who TARDIS - police box. I was fortunate to...

Words can never express the pain of losing a beautiful child. She always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. A wonderful spirit that Heavenly Father obviously lived so much he wanted her by His side to do miraculous things. Sending love and prayers that you find peace. May she rest gently in His arms forever. Until you meet again.
