I met "la Señora Macias" through my mom, Hilda, who cut and styled her hair when she lived in El Paso. My first job was helping her at the daycare when I was 13 years old. I was in charge of playing with the kids and keeping them entertained while she cooked. I will always remember her laugh and the pride she took in running her business. Both her and her sister Martha will always hold a special place in my heart.
