My heartfelt sympathies to the family. I didn't know Gene personally, but heard his and his Mother & Dad's name often as I grew up. I am the Sister of Kay Ward.

So sorry to hear this news. I used to play with Gene when we were very young but I lost contact with the family. I am Maggie Brantley's granddaughter, and was very close to Preston and Jeanne.

The Greatest man I ever knew. He taught me to believe in myself, to love unconditionally, and live life like each day was my last. He came into my life when I needed him most. Funny how God works. I love you Dad and your memories will be with me forever. Thank you for giving me a great life and a great foundation on which to grow. Thank you for letting me be me and never judging. I love you!

Gene and I worked together on two jobs, and he was the nicest man I had ever met. He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Gene.

My memory of Gene would be when we use to go fishing. I would call the fish (here fishy fishy) and would catch one and he couldn't believe thats how I would catch them. We would laugh after wards. May god bless him and his family.
