Not sure what to say?

We at Pilgrims of Ibillin are very saddened to learn of Ivan's passing. He always supported peace in Palestine and Israel through education very generously and his passionate activism will be deeply missed.

I knew Ivan for many years at Trinity, SINA, and the Adult Learning Program. He was a wonderful and resourceful leader, listener and great friend.

I hope to see all of you at Ivan's celebration of life gathering tomorrow Nov 5th beginning at 2pm in the Chapel at Trinity College.

We were blessed with the privilege of knowing Ivan Backer, a dear friend, colleague and a collaborator on so many worthwhile projects over more than a half century. Long live the memories of great men of passion like Ivan who bring peace to earth and good will to men.

Single Memorial Tree

We are very sad to learn of the passing of one of our devoted patrons. Ivan attended the 5/1/22 world premiere of "Hebrew Prayer in B Minor" - an adaptation of Bach's Mass in B Minor sung in Hebrew with ancient scripture. He always wore a big smile and supported us generously. Ivan will be deeply missed. CONCORA - Connecticut Choral Artists

One of the most giving, compassionate and caring man and boss that I have ever had the pleasure of working with and for. He was and will always be a mentor in my life. He taught me that you must always give to the less fortunate with more than just money. To speak on behalf of the less fortunate. To enjoy your life, but most important to be true to yourself. I will miss that red pen my friend. Thank you for the inspiration and mentorship. Say hi to Carolyn.

Ivan was a person with endless joy and energy. I enjoyed our spontaneous conversations as we waited for the Cinestudio curtain to rise. I will miss him.
