Karen passed away of cardiac arrest on April 20, 2009, just one day shy of her 41st birthday. She met many challenges in her life (her 3rd kidney transplant was almost 32 years old!), but she never allowed her health problems to interfere with her full and interesting life. She was a graduate of...

Not sure what to say?

Dear Jan and Kevin,
My heart goes out to you and your entire family. Amy and I have many fond memories of hanging out together in the "early days." Karen was always so curious and full of life interested always in meeting new people and gaining new experiences. Karen's picture is perfect in capturing the bright and engaging spirit that she possessed. She touched many people's lives deeply as all these comments convey and she will not be forgotten.
Jan, you were always a blessing in...

There was a huge turn out with standing room only and that shows the type of person Karen truely was, she could truely fit in to any situation and she touched everyone she came in contact with in some way. Karen had a way of bringing happiness and a smile to the people she new. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

I shall always think of Karen and Lazy W Methodist Family Camp--if there were kittens around, she would be there, petting and holding them, gently showing them to little children who would gather around her. Despite her health problems, she would talk animatedly about her volunteer work, and I enjoyed seeing her each year at camp. I am so very sad to hear of her passing, Jim and Judy--The De Anda-Scaia family sends our most sincere condolences and prayers for her dear family and friends who...

The Scott Family,

You have my deepest sympathies at the passing of your loved one, Karen. I met her at our Fibromyalgia meeting last year. My chats with her were very enjoyable and I knew she was a wonderful person. She told some of her other health issues; therefore, now we know, she is truly healed. Her life may have only lasted forty-one years on earth, but I believe she lived a full life here, and it continues on into the other side.

May your hearts soon be...

Janet Scott and Family,

My sincere wishes go out to you on the loss of Karen. She had such a good attitued, positive and loved life. I know her kitties are with her and she is looking down on all of us with much love in her heart. Jan, I will truly miss her and her cute little hats that she wore. If I can help you in anyway I will do so. See you at Sharon's

I will make a donation in her name to the library in Redondo

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Karen was a bright ray of light that will undoubtedly be missed by a great many people in the South Bay and beyond. Although I only met Karen recently at our monthly Fibromyalgia support group meetings, her presence was so meaningful to the group process that her energy and positive outlook helps keep me going each day as well. My deepest sympathies to Karen's family, close friends, and other social groups where she made such a difference in lives.

To Karen's Family,
I worked with Karen while volunteering at Red Cross in the Del Amo office over several years. Her great spirit and determination overcame the challenges she encountered and her enthusiasm was contagious. Several times I stopped to read all her bumper stickers and generally found a new one. Karen's smiles and kindness will be missed by so many--family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Karen is going to be missed by all of us at Cookin Stuff. She was so full of life and made our day when she came in. Her happiness and spirit was very special. Our condolences to her family and friends. The Cookin Stuff Gang
