Johansen, Ivar Andreas—age 77 of Knoxville, passed away in his home in Seymour after a four-month battle with illness. He was of the Lutheran faith and born in the north of Norway on September 9, 1927. He attended college in engineering and married Aasta in 1952. In 1954, they went to the United States for a two-year visit, which in turn led to their 50-year stay in the US. During the last 20 years, he traveled around the world as a field engineer for Universal Instruments in New York, a work that he loved. After 29 years living in Knoxville, he retired five years ago and built a house in Seymour to spend with his wife of 52 years.
He is survived by his wife, Aasta; son, Paul; daughter, Inger Conner and her husband Ken; three grandchildren, Kristine`, Christopher, and Justin; sister in Norway, Oddny Hogalmen; sister-in-law, Aud Johansen in New York; and many nieces and nephews in Florida, New York, and Norway.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Christus Victor Lutheran Church with Rev. Doug Romig officiating. Interment will follow in Lynnhurst Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 4110 Central Avenue Pike, Knoxville, 37912.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the church preceding the funeral service. Serving the family: Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at N. Broadway.

I only got to see Onkel Ivar two or three times but all were memorable and i enjoyed every moment i spent with him. I will never forget him.
