Not sure what to say?

We were so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. We remember him and Thera well from days at Rose City Church of the Nazarene. He worked hard with our choir and led us in beautiful music. It was nice to read the articles in the Gresham Outlook of his honors this past summer and the fun he had re-connecting with old students and friends. What a great legacy of influence he leaves. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time of loss and sadness.

it has been years that i was in his class but to this day i still carry the influnce that he gave me as a young person. Please pass my deeps sympathies to a great person

Thera - Please accept our deepest sympathies on Bob's passing to join the Heavenly Host. He'll be right at home in praising God. Like so many in the Portland area, Gracie and I enjoyed watching Bob perform and direct the King's Envoys many years ago at YFC as well as PC and Sam BHS. Bob put a song in our hearts with his enthusiasm for the language of heaven - praise!

Bob Barber's concert choir at Portland Christian High School, 1989

"In high school, I studied the arts and learned about excellence. But it was Bob Barber who led me into an experience of the discipline and devotion that is necessary to achieve excellence. Singing in his choir and vocal ensemble, I learned how to take criticism, how to push myself beyond perceived limitations, how to collaborate. While music is for many just a way to get attention, for Bob Barber, music was service. He reminded us that the Almighty was listening - and that motivated us to...

Our family was blessed to be students of Bob Barber for two generations. Both my wife Marilyn and our four chldren were directed in choir by Mr Barber. Such a blessing and legacy cannot be expressed with words alone!
No doubt, the Heavenly Choir has a new voice coach!

Because of Bob Barber's testimony, example, and influence, my one year (senior) at Portland Christian was the highlight of my high school career. He had a powerful impact on my life.

Bob Barber was more than a Chior Teacher! He was a Friend and Mentor to me thru my Years at PCH. He was a Coach to us on the basketball court and also the baseball field. He was a Great encouragment to me in all aspects of High School! Everytime I hear the " Hallelujah Chorus" I still get Goose bumps remembering how Bob could get the very Best out of his Students!
He will be Greatly Missed,
Herman Greene "1961-1964"

Mr. Barber was a choir teaching genius. My daughter Suzanne sang with the Barber led PC choir from 88-91 and had the opportunity to sing with the choir in Washington DC for the city's 200th anniversity. I am sorry his family has lost this fine man.
