Music Funeral Home - Waycross Obituary

Mr. J. Curtis King, 87, died Sunday evening (May 8, 2016) at Hospice House Satilla after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. Mr. King served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and he was a member of Haywood Baptist Church. After 37 years of service, he retired from Scapa Dryers as a mechanic. Mr. King is preceded in death by his parents, George Dewey King and Flossie Mae Bennett King; one sister, Nell Ree Beauregard; two brothers, Howard King (late wife Iva) and Glen King; and a granddaughter, Sarah King. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Sears King of Dixie Union; three daughters, Janice King and Tammie K. Allen both of Dixie Union, and JoAnn Whidby (Gary) of Conyers; one son, Harold King (Judy) of Covington; three sisters, Cassie Taylor of Baxley, Annette Gorley (Eddie) of Punta Gorda, FL, and Betty Joe Wright of Douglas; four brothers, George King of Jacksonville, FL, J. W. King (Shirley) of Dixie Union, Sammy King (Joyce) of Fitzgerald, and Lester King (Linda) of Dixie Union; two grandchildren, James C. Allen (Lizzy) of Waycross, and Joey Allen of Dixie Union; three great grandchildren, Corbin, Calista and Zeke Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (May 11, 2016) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hephzibah Cemetery in Dixie Union. The family will receive friends 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice House Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
