Dearest Ellen,Karen,Perry and Max:

I am devastated to learn of Jack's death. He was a towering figure in the Birmingham Jewish and retail community, but most importantly, he was the ideal father. You were blessed to have him for so many years...he was a true role model of how to live a righteous life.
I wish Jack William Aland godspeed into the next realm, and may he smile upon his beautiful and loving family - until you meet again.

What a beautiful person, in so many ways. And, I'll never forget the lovely roses that he grew -- and nurtured, I'm sure. What a fitting hobby for a man like Jack.
