Miller and Miller Funeral Home - Hugo Obituary

Cecil Jackson "Jack" Clements, age 92, was born July 20, 1925 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the son of B.J. Clements and Brazzie (Hall) Clements. Jack was an avid domino player, fisherman and hunter. He was proud of his turkey call and enjoyed telling the story about killing two turkeys with one shot. He was also very proud of the fact that the church hymn, "I'll Fly Away" , was originally written by his father, B.J. Clements and published under A.E. Brumley. His father also wrote several other popular hymns. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Jack assisted in the recovery of "Ham", the chimpanzee that manned the first space flight. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1964. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mary "Sue" Clements; three sisters, Fran Fedan, Marjorie Fottenbury and Imogene Smith; also a niece, Jaqueline Collins.
