Jack David Cordery, 74, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2007 in Bountiful, Utah.
Jack was born on October 19, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Alfred John Cordery and Eva Elsie Hook. He attended Stewart School, East High, and graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. degree in Political Science and an M.S. degree in Public Administration. He served active duty in the U.S. Army at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. It was there he met Marilyn Willmore. They were married January 20, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He began his career with the Federal Government in November 1956 as an investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division. He received the Distinguished Career Service Award in 1982. He retired on January 2, 1993.
Jack enjoyed his associations with the Harrison Duck Club and the Bonneville Knife and Fork Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, duck hunting, travel, golf and good music. He was known for his knowledge and wit and for his love for family and friends. We will dearly miss him.
Jack was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the bishopric of the Colonial Hills Ward as a counselor and finance clerk and as a member of the Hillside Stake High Council. He also served as a service missionary in the LDS Church Member Location Department. He was a member of the Stone Creek Ward, Bountiful, Utah.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, two daughters: Julia Boeckmann (Michael), West Valley City; Lisa Caldwell (Lowell), Taylorsville; and three sons: John Cordery, Salt Lake City; Thomas Cordery (Brenda), Honolulu Hawaii; Joseph Cordery (Abbey), Park City; eight grandchildren; sisters: Muriel (James) Sanderson and Joan (William) Gilbert.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Stone Creek Ward, 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah.
