Jack W. Diehl
February 10, 1951 – June 19, 2025
Clermont, Florida
Jack W. Diehl, 74, of Clermont, Fla., passed away on June 19, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born on February 10, 1951, in Lincoln, Neb., to LaVerne (Plymale) Diehl (Scott) and Don Diehl Sr. Jack grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Northeast High School. He started at Norden Laboratories in August 1973, where he remained with the company through several transitions and name changes, eventually retiring in 2007 from what became known as Pfizer Animal Health. While he spent many winters in Florida, he eventually made a permanent move to Clermont—partially because, as he often said, he hated the cold in Nebraska. Jack’s daughter Michelle and her family live in Clermont, but he continued to make frequent trips back to Lincoln to visit daughter Kelly, the grandkids, and the rest of the family and friends he held dear.
Jack was a man of many passions. He loved to golf, bowl, cook, attend concerts, watch any sporting event, and surround himself with the people he loved. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering a listening ear, or just being up for whatever was happening, Jack was always there. He especially adored his grandkids and treasured every moment spent with them. Whether it was a soccer game, dance recital, swim meet, or band program, he wasn’t going to miss it.
He was known for his quick wit, playful sarcasm, and a sense of humor that was just as much in his expressions as in his words—his face often said it all. Jack’s honesty, integrity, warmth, laughter, and loyalty made him someone people genuinely loved to be around.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Brandon) Schwab of Clermont, Fla., and Kelly (Chad) Ebert of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, JoAnne Hoffman (Taylor Herbert) of Lincoln, Neb., Alex Ebert (Brandon Eslick) of Lincoln, Neb., Tayana (Ray) Roberts of Omaha, Neb., Olivia Schwab of Clermont, Fla., Chris Diehl (parents Cyndi and Art Tiritilli) of Lincoln, Neb., and Blake Ebert of Lincoln, Neb.; brother, Mike Diehl of Pueblo, Colo.; sister-in-law, Linda Diehl of Hernando, Fla.; cat, Sharona; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn Diehl; mother, LaVerne Scott; father, Don Diehl Sr.; brother, Don Diehl Jr.; sister, JoAnn Diehl; sister-in-law, Ann Diehl; and stepfather, Bill Scott; and cats, Tabby and Rocky.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Memorials may be directed to The Cat House in Lincoln, Neb., at https://thecathouse.org/ways-to-help/donate/ or The Animal League Central Florida Humane Society at https://theanimalleague.org/ways-to-help/make-a-cash-donation/
